In recent years, the growing interest of researchers and city authorities in the issues of adapting the public transport infrastructure to the needs of people with disabilities has been observed. More and more cities, also in Poland, prepare accessibility standards for new and modernized elements of the urban system, which include not only vehicles but also bus and tram stops. Therefore, the objective of the research, the results of which are presented in this article, is to review the accessibility standards of tram stops to the needs of people with disabilities and to identify barriers in their application on the example of selected cities. Our research has shown that, in many cases, the implementation of standards by city authorities that take into account the needs of people with disabilities encounters many difficulties. Identified barriers prevent the full implementation of the assumed availability, and sometimes even generate waste. Cities incur significant financial expenses to adapt the stops that people with disabilities are not able to use comfortably anyway.
