Abstract The effect of thermoexposition on residual stresses and limiting amplitude of the stress cycle for M6 bolts made of 16KhSN steel having a rolled thread is examined. Based on the fatigue tests performed, it has been shown that the relationship between residual stresses in bolt cavities and limiting amplitude of bolt stress cycle is well illustrated using the criterion of mean integral residual stresses.
