This paper presented the design of airport virtual simulation environment for pilot cognitive teaching based on virtual simulation technology. Firstly, it analyzed the needs of pilots’ cognitive teaching, defined cognition and cognitive teaching, and analyzed the special needs of pilots’ airport cognition at different stages through the investigation of multiple pilots; Secondly, taking Beijing Capital International Airport as an example, the airport simulation environment was built using software such as 3D Max and Unreal Engine 4. It was realized from four functions: key building construction, multi angle browsing, navigation signs and light mutation. Through system integration and demonstration, it was verified that the system designed in this paper meets the needs of pilot cognitive teaching. It provided necessary support for the transformation from flight cadets to flight staff.
