Traction transformer is a very important part of auxiliary power supply system of electric locomotive. Its short circuit faults can be divided into inter-turn short circuit faults and turn-to-earth short circuit faults. In order to study the variation of electric quantity when traction transformer fails, the equivalent models of transformer when inter-turn short circuit faults and turn-to-earth short circuit faults are established. The simulation is built in Simulink to explore the factors affecting the variation of electric quantity of traction transformer short circuit fault. This paper discusses the influence of the fault type, the number of turns and the position of short circuit on the current and voltage.
