The method of choosing the optimal number and distribution of work by stages is considered (based on providing the same total pressure recovery coefficient in stages and blade rows). A method is proposed for choosing the solidities of the profile cascades. The method effectiveness is confirmed by an example of choosing the optimal number of stages (three) and the distribution of work in a low-pressure compressor with a given of pressure ratio and peripheral speed.
