The ever-rising urban sprawl is one of the key concerns of metropolitan cities around the world. The deterioration of public transport connectivity to the remote areas of the city influences people to use private vehicles. Many countries introduced a Park-and-Ride (P&R) system to control the use of private vehicles and improve access to the existing stations of public transport. To ensure a successful implementation of the P&R system in the city, it is essential to provide such facilities at appropriate locations. This study develops a checklist to evaluate the locations of existing P&R facilities and tests it over the P&R facilities near the metro stations of green line metro network of Delhi, the capital of India. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is used in this study on the evaluated scores to determine the preference of the existing locations for P&R facilities. The results suggest that the preference of the locations decreases as it moves closer towards the city centre. The output of this study also recommends reducing the number of P&R facilities present along the green line corridor to improve the efficiency of the P&R system. The developed approach can prove to be an aid for urban planners, transportation authorities, and P&R operators to assess the suitability of a location for a P&R facility.
