Abstract In the recent years, due to the environmental concern, the development of natural fibre composites has shown a growth of interest because of their recyclability and biodegradability. In this paper, the sisal fibre and bamboo fibre hybrid composite has been made for untreated and 15% Ca(OH)2 alkali-treated fibre. The 15% Ca(OH)2 treated hybrid composite has made with two arrangements as sisal/bamboo/sisal(S/B/S) and bamboo/sisal/bamboo (B/S/B) by compression moulding. The tensile test has been analysed for the hybrid composite. The S/B/S hybrid composite results in higher tensile strength. The untreated S/B/S hybrid composite has been made by compression moulding, and the tensile test was recorded. The comparison of tensile test on treated and untreated hybrid composite resulted in treated S/B/S hybrid composite which has more tensile strength.
