The paper focuses on the need to reduce GHG gas emissions by the Airport Industry as they contribute nearly 2% of the total emissions. Therefore, there is a need for carbon emission reduction by airlines, airports and other stakeholders. Airports Council International has launched airport carbon accreditation programme for carbon neutrality and thus, helps cutting down the carbon emissions. This paper discusses various initiatives taken by IGI Airport, Delhi and other stakeholders to reduce carbon emission and to achieve carbon neutral accreditation. The airport aims to achieve green airport as its objective through sustainable initiatives. Collaborative efforts which involve various internal and external stakeholders emerge as the major factor contributing towards this carbon neutrality.
