Electro-optical platform of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been widely used for target localization. Compared with the traditional single-point measurement method using the electro-optical platform, multi-point ranging target localization reduces the adverse effects caused by the measurement errors of the three attitude angles of UAV, the pitch angle and the azimuth angle of the electro-optical platform, but brings the factor of selecting ranging points which will affect target localization accuracy. This paper first gives the principle of multi-point ranging target localization of the electro-optical platform, and then obtains the influencing factors of target localization accuracy. Using Monte Carlo method, the relationship between factors such as latitude and longitude error, height error, ranging error, number of ranging points, horizontal distribution of ranging points is analyzed systematically. Based on this, a strategy for improving the localization accuracy is given, which has certain reference significance for the implementation of multi-point ranging target localization of UAV with electro-optical platform.
