Abstract For the high portion of forward collisions within the figure of accidents and related damages, basic counteracting strategies are derived. Accident prevention, reaction assistance, and emergency maneuver are the fundamental strategies for protection and are discussed here. With the given physical and empirical basis for control, strategies of countermeasures in different constellations enable the estimation of safety effect of different strategies and definitions of requirements for sensors and actuators.
