The quality control of asphalt pavement should be focused on the construction process rather than after construction. The relationship among rolling frequency, temperature and compaction of asphalt mixture in airport pavement engineering was studied, and the feasibility of PQI automatic quality inspection in the process of pavement construction was discussed. The results showed that the first to fourth rolling made a major contribution to the compaction of pavement; uneven transverse compaction distribution could result in insufficient compaction on both sides of the road surface; after three times of rolling, the road surface temperature dropped significantly. It can be concluded that PQI can be used to evaluate the construction quality of asphalt pavement effectively and can be used as a quick evaluation index and construction scheme basis in the field, which could be popularized.
