Real-time photogrammetry is making inroads into various applications due to its ability for on-line and real-time respionse. Recent developments in solid state cameras, image processing techniques, and microprocessors have raised the interesting possibility of a fully automated photogrammetric system for close range applications. Video cameras, VCRs, and a PC installed a frame-grabber can be used as a real-time photogrammetric system. The aim of this research is to analyze the radiometric characteristics of video images. A pilot video system was composed of readily available hardware and software. Video images were captured in various circumstances, and basic, image processing tools were available to analyze the images. Some limitations found in the test are pointed out and potential improvements are discussed.
