Commercial vehicles move over 10 billion tons of freight in the United States every year. 15 years ago, commercial vehicles transported about 100 kg of goods per day for every inhabitant of Germany. And despite the social consensus that we all try to reduce our ecological footprint, one can safely assume that this number is higher nowadays. The transported goods include finished products that consumers see directly, such as bread for your sandwich, but also intermediate products that are used to make the finished products, such as the flour delivered to the baker several days earlier.
