Abstract A central issue in road safety is knowing that learning strategies used by subjects when they are driving. This allows a better understanding what behavior will have an individual in relation to traffic. Within these strategies, metacognitive skills are processes that allow drivers to plan, monitor and regulate their behavior. A study was conducted with professional drivers (experts) and novice drivers, in order to know how the experience impacted driving through metacognitive skills they use. The results showed as are professional drivers who make greater use of these skills during driving.
