Due to the high mobility and variability of Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs), heterogeneous vehicles are usually strangers and cannot fully trust each other. This problem becomes more serious when there are malicious vehicles in the VANETs. Therefore, how to effectively evaluate the reliability of vehicles is an important issue in the Internet of vehicles. The key step is to establish an effective trust mechanism, judge whether the message sender is trustworthy and check whether the information content is trustworthy before taking any measures, and spread accurate, real, and up-to-date trust content among network entities. This chapter first introduces the basic concepts of trust in VANETs, then reviews analyze, and compares some recently proposed trust management mechanisms. Finally, this chapter discusses the current challenges and future research hotspots of VANETs trust management.
