Driving in a careless, negligent, or erratic manner was listed most often, by officers at the scene of a traffic accidents, as the most common cause of accidents. Industry 4.0 applications to road transportation commonly involves the development of algorithms toward more accurate self-driving cars. However, human drivers are still prevalent on today’s roads. Even with techniques such as gamification that intrinsically motivate drivers toward safer driving habits, aggressive driving is still a major cause of dangerous accidents. This work asks the question “How can the physiological traits of the driver be observed with aggressive driving habits?” A preliminary understanding on using wearable sensors to measure the electro-dermal activity (EDA) while driving to test the relationship between driver stress levels and their driving habits is presented. Future research directions involve understanding the personality and physiological traits of the driver to both design a tailored gamified experience or to just educate the driver on the impact of their attitude and physiological characteristics on their driving habits.
