Due to its significant importance in many aspects, formation flight of swarm unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has drawn a lot of attentions from scholars and engineers. This paper represents an optimal path planning scheme of multi-target system in a leader-follower strategy. The proposed method utilizes virtual springs structure to maintain the inter-distance and to avoid collision. After establishing the dynamical model of four high speed targets in horizonal plane, a numerical study is performed to demonstrate the performance of the formation flight system. The results verified the feasibility and validity of our proposed method in the path planning program of multi-target.
