The flaws of the traditional train safety-braking model in the design of the train-to-train communication train control system are analyzed, and a novel three-dimensional safe braking model based on the dynamic speed of leading and following trains is proposed in order to study the next generation train automatic control system based on train-to-train communication. The envelope surface and space concept of the three-dimensional safe braking model was established, and the envelope space of the three-dimensional safe braking model has been calculated using two leading train strategies: motionless and running. The BP neural network PID control method is used to simulate train tracking performance based on the three-dimensional safety braking model. The simulation results show that the safe operation envelope of the three-dimensional safe braking model of train-to-train communication mode is increased by more than 56.4% compared with the traditional model. Finally, the simulation results have been verified on-site through the Beijing Capital Airport Line, and the shortest 60 m limit tracking distance was successfully achieved.
