Abstract In this chapter, the three major power quality problems, system unbalance, presence of reactive power, and harmonics, are modeled in co-phase traction power to develop the compensation power control of Railway HPQC. A systematic analysis is performed based on the control developed and the performance of co-phase traction power supply system with Railway HPQC is compared with that of RPC. The system of co-phase traction power supply with Railway HPQC is advantageous for lower operation voltage and device rating. These advantages are evaluated using a simulation model in PSCAD/EMTDC and are presented in this chapter.
