This chapter considers the need for a new holistic approach to oil port sustainability. Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in port management and related shipping areas due to the significant environmental and social impact of economic growth especially during periods of trade expansion. As trade has expanded ports are focusing on value-added activities as well as sustainable development. Port sustainability management need to be enhanced accordingly as many accidents harming sustainable growth have happened. Past experience indicated that in an industry that is growing, organisational and economic developments are needed not only in the most obvious areas of the sector, and consequently it is crucial to focus upon sustainability management which forms one of the most significant indirect effects of oil port growth.
