Abstract Level crossings are single-level crossings; they differ from pedestrian crossings in that the latter are meant only for pedestrian and/or bicycle traffic. Railway line administrators and road administrators are obliged to perform their duly efforts related to ensuring safety on level crossings and pedestrian crossings. This paper focuses on the results of studies that cover irregularities occurring on level crossings and pedestrian crossings. Based on the innovative measuring instrument called magnetic-measuring square (MMS), five steps of the measuring innovation were defined. Also, wireless identification technology (NFC—Near-Field Communication) implemented by the author in the aforementioned type of works was presented. The use of MMS and NFC technologies significantly streamlines the process of maintaining railway infrastructure and carrying out land surveying and diagnostic works. The paper includes proprietary observations and conclusions. The chapter was prepared as part of the AGH statutory research no. 11.11.150.005.
