An application of a hybrid approach of the finite element method (FEM) and statistical energy analysis (SEA) to a floorpan is presented. Modal analysis and frequency responses are implemented by FEM. The coupling loss factors employed in SEA are derived from the energy coefficient matrix based on FEM results. Appropriate substructuring configurations are investigated in an attempt to prevent the occurrence of negative and indirect coupling loss factors. Cross-examination analysis of various numbers of subsystems and damping levels are performed in order to assess different energy models. The issue of uncertainty in the high-frequency structural dynamics is also taken into account using Monte Carlo numerical calculations. The results of the hybrid approach are in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulations.
