The mass production of turbochargers is a postwar industry primarily directed toward high speed vehicular diesel engines. The major product development and improvement have been concentrated in the past ten years. Significant cost, weight, and size reductions have been achieved simultaneously with improvements in quality, reliability and performance. Additional improvements in all those aspects can be expected for the future although not at such a rapid rate.
