The effect of periodic overstress on the fatigue life of notched aluminum (2024-T3) specimens was investigated at three different intervals and three different levels of overstress. Linear regression analysis was applied to the experimental data to obtain a model. This model shows the effect of the magnitude and interval between the overstress on the fatigue life. The model was used to determine the magnitude and interval that would give the greatest increase in fatigue life.
