There are a number of powerful drivers towards embracing a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. These include the increasingly globalized nature of the transportation industry, with clients, suppliers and competition often coming from overseas; the changing values of today's workforce, with employees themselves often more attracted to a diverse and inclusive workforce; and the manner in which lTE as an organization is perceived externally, by potential members and the wider public. A genuinely diverse workforce can help to tackle issues created by fundamental shifts in our industry, including an ageing labor force and talent shortages in certain sectors, giving organizations a competitive edge in today's economy. People need to stop asking old questions to new audiences. Leaders must be more inclusive, individuals must get out of their comfort zones, and they all must become more inter-culturally competent.
