John is graduating with his degree and eagerly seeking employment. Company A contacts him for a job interview and offers to pay his travel costs to their main office in another city. John readily accepts the offer and schedules the trip. Then, Company B calls wanting to interview John with an offer to also pay his travel costs to a different city than the city where Company A is located. John would like to interview with both companies. Neither Company indicated that they wanted exclusive interview rights because of the travel cost reimbursement. There is no indication that this situation presents an ethical problem since John is not providing a service or seeking a professional engagement. It could appear to some as a conflict of interest or a possible deception if John uses one company's expense money to visit and interview a different company at the same time.
