The cryogenics group at NASA-Goddard has built several adiabatic demagnetization refrigerators (ADRs) for cooling detectors to sub-Kelvin temperatures in a lab, balloon, or space environment. The effort presented here describes the development of continuous adiabatic demagnetization refrigerator for spaceflight applications.
