International cooperation in space activities is discussed with emphasis on the cooperation between NASA and ESA. Discussions on the following aspects are included: the origins of space activities; ESA's role in space; ESA's contribution to space activities and some ESA projects and spacecraft; the relationship between NASA and ESA and some of the results of this partnership, including the Hubble Space Telescope and Ulysses; the manned space flight results of this partnership, including Spacelab; space and microgravity experimentation; the future of space activities and international cooperation in space, and ESA's role in this future.
