This paper is a synopsis of the mission planning and space design activities at The University of Texas at Austin during the 1985-86 calendar years. The research described has been conducted on both the undergraduate and graduate level and is continuing. The primary emphasis of the undergraduate program has focused on a manned Mars mission. The graduate research has concentrated on a lunar base; specifically, the feasibility of an electromagnetic lunar launcher and the development of a parametric lunar base computer simulation.
