The report summarizes the corridor traffic management experiences at completed and ongoing construction projects nationwide. A corridor traffic management plan for a major freeway construction project has three components: the traffic control plan for the construction zone, impact mitigation actions on alternative routes and modes in the corridor, and the public information program. The various strategies and techniques that have been used as part of each component are identified. Data regarding the costs and effectiveness are presented where available. The document will assist highway agencies when developing corridor traffic management plans for major construction projects in the future.
