The Ship Performance Analysis System (SPAN) is a computer-based system designed to allow the shoreside personnel of a ship operator to perform a techno-economic analysis of ship performance given: a specific set of ship, prime mover and propeller characteristics; the hull and propeller surface maintenance programs planned for the ship; a projected voyage trading profile; and a specific cost and revenue structure. The results from SPAN enable the user to determine the optimum hull and propeller maintenance procedures.
