This report explores reducing side collisions of transit buses, injury risk in collisions involving buses, prevention of tractor-semitrailer rollovers, large-truck transportation alternatives, evaluating truck safety systems, factors associated with motorcycle crashes, and severity of motorcyclist injuries. This issue of the TRR also examines glancing and stopping behavior of motorcyclists and car drivers, impact of seat belt use by rear-seat occupants, effectiveness of ticketing aggressive car and truck drivers, driver response to automated speed enforcement, speed reduction treatments in highway work zones, deployment of intersection safety cameras, targeted pedestrian traffic enforcement programs, enforcement engineering, simulator-based training, transportation services for seniors, and liability issues of volunteer driving programs. In addition, this TRR addresses the effect of driver age on operating speed and acceleration noise; transportation, distance, and health care utilization for older adults in rural and small urban areas; memory-impaired drivers; access management at modern roundabouts; emission impacts of roundabouts; roundabout with unbalanced approach volumes; and safety performance models for urban roundabouts.
