The report discusses the comprehensive planning process for compatible land use and airport development. It is directed toward achieving an optimum relationship between an airport and its environs. The goal of a quieter airport and community can be achieved only through a coordinated effort: by reducing noise at the source through quieter engines, by revising aircraft operational procedures, and by developing a program of land use planning and controls. Some of the problems, methods, and prospects for achieving the goals of a quieter environment are presented. (Author)
