Analytical models for analyzing the transportation of payloads from space shuttles were developed. The models include calculation of the structural mass of transfer stages in different configurations, the mass of rocket engines, rocket propellant performance, and the cost of upper rocket stages. A trajectory model allows mission analyses to be carried out. For the parametric representation of the results, the costs are selected as variable. Optimum space shuttle propulsion platforms are defined for three mission profiles. For minimum velocity requirements, this propulsion platform is characterized by an isotensoidal tank, hydrazine, and a super blowdown feed system. In order to verify the proposed concept, experimental investigations were carried out. Technological components are described.
