Although research on V/STOL aircraft has been extensive, there are other covertiplane configurations yet to be studied. Previous investigations of tilting proprotor concepts have considered the overall aerodynamic characteristics of specific designs. It is the purpose of this research to experimentally investigate the lift and drag characteristics of a constant-pitch proprotor and wing interaction system in the North Carolina State University subsonic wind tunnel. The testing system consisted of five basic parts, the proprotor and wing models, the North Carolina State University subsonic wind tunnel, the strain gage balance system, the system instrumentation, and the proprotor alignment, drive and shaft assembly.
