Use of dry tuned gyros (DTG's), captured with digital loops, in spacecraft attitude measurement systems was studied. Digital mechanization was compared with analog loop based systems. Gyro performance requirements on typical satellite missions, and results of tests performed on digitally caged DTG's, covering various performance and environmental aspects are presented. It is concluded that digitally caged DTG's protected by shock mounts are suitable for medium accuracy spacecraft applications.
