The research program was to design and demonstrate an advanced inflatable restraint system which would provide improved protection for the right front seat occupant during frontal and oblique frontal collisions at impact velocities up to 50 MPH. The research results are summarized for two concepts which were investigated under this program: the multicell and the air bag/collapsible panel combination. The second phase of this program was redirected toward designing and demonstrating the air bag/collapsible dash (ABCD) cencept. (Modified author abstract)
