Year-round daylight saving time (YRDST) has recently been observed in the United States. The observance of double daylight saving time (DDST) is under some consideration. One of the principal expected effects of the adoption of these time systems is a change in the level of motor vehicle accidents. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of year-round daylight saving time and of year-round double daylight saving time on the motor vehicle accident rate. An experiment was designed to employ computer analysis of available motor vehicle accident data to model the accident situation in the United States under YRDST and DDST.
