On July 14 - 16, 1993, the United States Department of Transportation and The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey co-sponsored an Intermodal Workshop in New York City. This workshop was called 'United Links for the United States' The United Links For The United States workshop was the largest of several intermodal workshops sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration in 1993. The purpose of the workshops was to provide an overview of the latest thinking on intermodal planning and the latest information on the federal regulations.
