Comparisons were made to determine the feasibility of incorporating a standardized procedure to provide reasonably accurate estimates of removals or failures and provisioning factors for avionics equipment. Three prediction methods were used to estimate the number of removals or failures to be experienced by five avionic systems on the S-3A aircraft during a period of 13 calendar months (9002 flight hours). Predicted values of removals or failures were compared with observed values reported in the Naval Maintenance and Material Management Reporting System.
