Missiles of a length of 7.5 calibers with stabilizing tail surfaces and different nose shapes were tested in a gun tunnel at Mach 8.8. The main purpose was to investigate the possibility of aerodynamic control by means of the spike deflection of such missiles. The order of magnitude of the maximum normal force for different nose shapes created by a deflected spike are calculated.
