The use of simulation models for track ground transportation systems for the velocity range between 300 and 500 km/hr is discussed. The role of system dynamics for track vehicles is outlined. The dynamic modeling of track vehicles, in particular wheel/rail systems is explained. The MEDYNA general program for model assembling and simulation is presented. Identification activities within wheel/rail research are described. The role of identification for high-speed ground transportation system dynamics is outlined.
