This report presents an inventory of cost-effective measures to prevent accidents and injuries. Measures have been identified in the fields of road safety, work accidents and injuries, natural hazards, fires, injuries among older people, recreational activities and poisoning. The report discusses to what degree society sufficiently uses injury prevention measures and whether the most cost-effective measures are used. Cost-benefit analyses may contribute to a more effective use of resources, as shown by the examples presented here. Today's injury prevention policy is only to a limited extent grounded in cost-benefit analysis. This report presents an inventory of cost-effective measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
