Manual airdrop mission planning procedures are inefficient and prone to error. Riggers and supply clerks can be occupied with tedious paperwork for several days, and changes in missions can cause further delays. This report documents the development of the Airdrop Missions and Equipment Management System (AMEMS). The objective of the project was to develop prototype computer programs to improve the operations of airdrop rigging units. AMEMS reduces mission planning time by 90%, allowing one operator to plan a mission in approximately 40 minutes. AMEMS significantly increases accuracy and improves readiness. Riggers are freed from paperwork and are available to rig loads. Budget forecasting is also enhanced by the system's mission costing option. In addition, AMEMS can be used as a tool for contingency planning and remote site rigging. (sdw)
