The Department of the Interior's Office of Aircraft Services was established in July 1973 with responsibility for managing aircraft services to meet Interior's needs. In March 1981, Interior ordered the Office abolished on September 30, 1981. The Secretary of the Interior should rescind the order to abolish the Office of Aircraft Services, unless it can be clearly shown that decentralization of aircraft services would be cost effective and would not jeopardize flight safety.
