The objectives were to provide data to permit a comparison between the moisture pickup of conventional and new types of fluids being proposed for use in braking systems such as low hygroscopic and low water sensitive brake fluids under typical service conditions; to use this data in calibrating and verifying laboratory humidification of brake fluids; and to note the condition of vehicle braking system components at the end of the test period as indicating the degradation effects of water wet brake fluid on the hydraulic system components under field service conditions.
