A plan is reported for reducing bus and trolley fares for elderly citizens in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Under this plan, all single rides with fares of 25 cents and over taken during the off-peak periods on weekdays, and all day on weekends and holidays, were reduced by 15 cents. A study was conducted to assess the impacts of the new fare policy. Of major concern were the impacts dealing with charges in transit usage, and the resultant changes in revenues accruing to the Port Authority.
