The 17th Combat Aviation Group provides command and control of non-divisional Army Aviation assets in the II Corps Tactical Zone (CTZ) and aviation support to combat and combat support units subordinate to IFFORCEV, DSA II Corps and FREE WORLD MILITARY ASSISTANCE FORCES in support of operations to defeat the Viet Cong (VC) and North Vietnam Army (NVA) forces and assist the Government of Vietnam (GVN) extend control throughout the Republic of Vietnam (RVN).
