The tank and pump unit, liquid dispensing, for truck mounting, is a standard item developed for the purpose of converting 2 1/2- and 5-ton general cargo trucks into bulk fuel transporters and refuelers for other military vehicles and aircraft. The tank and pump unit consists of a 50-gpm, self-priming, centrifugal pump driven by an air-cooled, 4-cycle gasoline engine; two 600-gallon aluminum, skid-mounted, storage tanks; a 50-gpm filter/separator; suction and discharge hoses; reel hoses; and related support items. The assembly is designed to be used with either the 2 1/2- or 5-ton standard M-series cargo trucks. When installed in such vehicles, the tank and pump unit is used in the field as a bulk fuel carrier and dispenser. It carries a payload of 1,200 gallons of petroleum and may be used for meeting routine and emergency requirements for refueling vehicles and light aircraft, for filling and emptying 55-gallon drums and 5-gallon cans, for temporary storage, and for replacing or supplementing special purpose vehicles.
