This research project was performed under the National Shipbuilding Research Program. The project was accomplished by BMS & Associates, under subcontract to National Steel and Shipbuilding Company. The overall objective was to define the most cost effective systems to remove welding smoke or other air pollution from shops and other enclosed (shipboard) spaces. This study has been undertaken with these goals in mind and has fulfilled the basis of the project outline approved by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) Ship Production Committee.
